#InHerShoes

Standing up for women around the world.

Roccamore has grown into the brand it is today thanks to the support of thousands of amazing women. And as we grow bigger, we want to give back whenever possible.

Every year we celebrate the International Woman's Day (8th of March) with special crowdfunding campaigns. These projects are in collaboration with female-led, female-focused non-governmental organisations.

Together we have succeeded in making a real difference in women's lives, helping them stand strong for themselves and their families.

#InHerShoes 2021

We joined forces with TreeSisters for the goal to plant 5000 trees together in Kenya. At that point, TreeSisters had planted more than 16 million trees in key regions around the Equator, where trees grow faster and cleanse the air more efficiently than anywhere else in the world.

To achieve that, founder Clare Dubois employs local women and provides them with a safe and nurturing work environment. By learning how to plant trees, they are able to build a better live for themselves and their families, provide food for their children and send them to school.

20.000 NEW TREES

We created two limited edition designs with 99% biodegradable leather - Venus and Grace. Our goal was to sell 300 pairs of them combined on a crowdfunding-basis, which would be enough to plant 5000 trees in Kenya.

Smashing the original goal, we sold 603 pairs in total - equal to 10.000 trees. But we didn't stop there! We were so inspired by our community's support for this campaign, that we decided to double the investment.

That's right, we're planting 20.000 trees! Over 20 years they would gradually neutralise out the CO2 emitted by driving a car 18 million km, or 448 times around the equator.

#InHerShoes 2020

We partnered with Dress For Success in Greater London, with the mission to assist women with limited resources achieve financial independence. In 2019 the organisation had worked with 1020 women in the London area, and had a success rate of 69% of them getting a job.

They work with refugees, single mothers, women from abusive relationships and women born into poverty, and help them by coaching the women for interviews, building their confidence and giving them professional outfits to wear.

HOW WE HELPED

We created a limited edition gold glitter boot called Nita, which was available for pre-order. Nita was named after Juanita Ingram, the founder of Dress For Success Greater London. A total of 312 pairs were sold!

All the profits were donated to Dress For Success and invested in helping women by providing them with tools to get a job: ongoing professional development, interview training and a capsule wardrobe. Total amount donated: €16.347, which is estimated to make a difference in the lives of 75 women.

#InHerShoes 2019

This campaign supported women's rights over their own bodies. Roccamore collaborated with Francesca Fenech Conti, one of the biggest supporters and spokespeople for Dress For Success in Malta. Together with The Women’s Rights Foundation, Francesca is fighting for the need for proper sex education and free contraception in Malta, the last country in EU with a total ban on abortion.

The local NGOs work tirelessly to educate the public and break down stereotypes in a very patriarchal and conservative society. In 2016 the Women’s Rights Foundation and Women For Women were instrumental in bringing emergency contraception to all pharmacies in Malta, but there is still a long way to go.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

It is important that all women have the same rights and have full control of our own bodies and minds. Many women are denied the right for a pregnancy termination, even though they might be a victim of rape, incest or are mentally unstable. We think this is an important issue that should not be happening at all in this age and time, and we have to contribute as much as we can.

We designed a limited edition boot called Francesca, named after Francesca Conti of course. The profit was donated to Women's Rights Foundation. With the campaign roccamore donated €15.000.
