Mothers make all the difference for us when we grow up. Like my mother, Ulla. She was a single mom, and we didn't have a lot of money. We didn't even have a phone. Still, she made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

She always told me I was the best. "If the others do not like you, they are the ones who are wrong. Not you." She was a rebel and taught me to stand up for what I believed in - regardless of what the world around me would say or think. Without that wisdom, I would never have been able to do something as crazy as starting up my own business.

So here's to all the moms. You are the rockstars in our world!

As a child, I was often sick. My mom would always have to wake up the neighbour to use his phone to call the doctor. Until she got help from Mødrehjælpen, and they paid for the installment of a telephone. It sounds like a small thing, but it made an enormous difference. I promised my mother we would pay them back one day.

So For Mother's Day, we donate 100 kr. to Mødrehjælpen for each glitter shoe we sell in May. You can also make donations without buying shoes, and use the link here. The goal is to raise 30.000 kr. for the organization helping all moms shine.

ROCCAMORE REBEL: PERNILLE LOTUS

Just because you look like a big success, it doesn't have to mean you feel like one.

It was never written in the stars that Pernille Lotus would become a double-digit millionaire one day. Rather the opposite. She grew up in poverty, living in the suburbs of Copenhagen with her single mum and two siblings. Her mum struggled with cancer, and Pernille had no contact with her father.

At the age of 14, she started using drugs and had a turbulent youth. After her boyfriend almost died of an overdose, she decided to leave many habits behind. She managed to turn the tables around and create a successful influencer and marketing agency. WeAreCube, as it is called, was recently sold for a double-digit million figure.

What truly impresses us is not just her amazing business adventure, but the fact that she is not afraid to share her story, fears, and doubts, exposing her less-successful years and hard lessons.

That's courage and an inspiration to all of us at roccamore.
